Sunday Nite...

Thought that I'd get this post done tonight as tomorrow morning I'll be busy and probably won't get to it....

Been playing on Etsy all this week-end...Pretty fun stuff.. Lots of artisans..Came across Marcia Palmer and her work..she sells on Etsy. Here is a sample, She does beautiful work...

                                      Textured Cuff Bracelet

I finally got busy this week-end, have special orders that I have to get out. A client for Keepsake jewelry wanted a bracelet and she liked the torn paper or watercolor (ala Maraget Maggio) technique..Thought I'd give it a go but unsure how the rose petal inclusions would work. Hadn't tried it before but the photo below show how it turned out......

It's a little bit different, I think she'll like it...I Do.

Have a great Monday,

Shirley

Frozen in.............

In this area, as with everywhere else in the north and northeast, winter this past couple of weeks has been a bear. A bear, but it has also been beautiful. I can't remember seeing ice on "everything" this thick. My daughter was musing last nite that it looks as if all the trees were dipped in acrylic...and yes, it's exactly what it looks like.

After running around and snappping pictures of this beautiful stuff, only the human eye can really capture the beauty of the sun shining on the ice. It sparkles and shines like a million diamonds that can't been seen through the lens of the camera...

Woke up this morning to find that it had snowed, again, and all the ice was covered in white....glad I got  the pictures......

Good Morning and Happy Saturday!

Seems like this winter has now got everyone in it's grips, with me being no exceptions. Almost everyone you talk to has the cold or flu. It starts with a tiny scratchy thoat and in a few hours has you lying on the couch!  Anyway, I digress....

I haven't been in the mood to work in clay, (how can you create when you're overmedicating yourself ), so I do find that I have been sitting in front of the computer working on the site....I put in a new link "Play with Clay" that will probably showcase some item or technique I've come up it...Maybe I should call it "What if...."   Meaning, I seen some other technique and say, well, what if I do THIS?"  I did just that with this next group of photos...I call them "Snake Bellies" . Odd name, but looking at them, thats what they remind me of.  I've left the photos rather large so you can see the detail.....

This one is in Greys, Blacks and Whites

With This one being my favorite in browns and coppers.....

Anyway, if anyone can come with a "different" name....please give leave a  comment!  Sounds like a contest to me "Name that Technique"!

By the way, I hope everyone has Polymer Clay Notes and Polymer Clay Daily bookmarked.. They are excellent blogs for information and eye candy!  I'm am contantly amazed at what is out there that I would never see if it weren;t for these blogs!   I myself visit them everyday, it's like a shot of sunshine!

Tomorrow is Super Bowl for all you football fans out there.  Enjoy!  Sorry this was a lenghty post....now

Go out and make it a great Week-end........

Monday Monday!

Well, pretty much spent the entire weekend in fromt of the computer......Website is coming along  pretty good. I finally found a program that "even a caveman could do it"! No html experience needed.

Anyway, now I feel that the groundwork to the site is pretty well built so now, all I have to do is add to or take away (until a get some brainstorm about changing things). Now, I can actually have a SCHEDULE so I can manage my time a little better, which means a lot more claying. I did put some pics of the "studio" up. It looks kinda dark ( i have purchased more lighting )and hodge podge, but it's my idea of heaven!

Hope everyone else had a great weekend. Another week-end of no claying, but, I had a dream I did some work. Does that count??!?!?!

Well, need to get ready to go to the salt mines....Yep, on top of Claying and Webbing and Blogging there is still a full time job......but, it's keeping me young!

Go out and make it a great day!!

How time flys!

Heavens! I can't believe that this month is almost over, sorry for the delay in the postings. Took down the website and revamped it. Took a while and just a little frustation but it is up and going! My daughter was just too busy to keep up with the constant changes, work, school and family,  I decided to see what I could do. Finding out it's very rewarding AND VERY time-consuming! (Thank you Melanie for all the hard work you did!)

So, the website is still being populated with things and will be in a state constant change! Which is a good Thing...

Now, I just need to balance creating , webbing, and blogging! Of course with the emphasis on "creating"!

While I was in the midst of revampping  my site, I wandered across Shelly Atwood - Articulation in Clay site. She does beautiful work  both in Silver and Clay.  Her carved polymer "Curanderas" are spectacular!

Go out and have a great day!

Friday at Last!

It's been a verry long week. At 5:00 in the morning I'm trying to get some things done. Husband is in hospital and has been since Tuesday. Hope that he will be released today and things will get back to normal. Is there such a thing? Have not had much time to do things, signed up for a swap on CF Originals group site and looking forward to that. They are doing a swap for seahorses in the Christi style, so it should be fun both to do and to get! I've never been one to sign up for any kind of swap because I wouldn 't want to disappoint someone  on the other end receiving my items plus the fact that I have to be THE worlds worst procrastinator!

Today I'm presenting some of my "Compressed Cane" items.  There are two ways that I do this technique and I love both of them. Is there another name for them I wonder? Anyway......

Here is one, Bangles in Silver and Gold,

and another,

This is a reversible Tile Bracelet:

Front Side - Compressed Cane,

Reverse....Plain Cane

(I like the look, by compressing the cane patterns, you get a totally different but coordinating look)

When I do my clay work, I want someone to look at it and say that what I do is MY style and not someone elses. Like all the Grand Dames of the polymer clay world. I have a real problem with copying someones work. If I can't make something my own, I don't want to put it out there. I have done that since I've been playing with clay. I am pretty well able copy someone's technique but I'm afraid of copyright infringement, not to mention the fact that I would view myself as completely talentless. Never the less, the "Weathered Wood" nor the "Compressed Cane" techniques that I do, to my knowledge, have been put out there that I have seen, and if they have, I would love to know the artist...

Have a great day!

Happy News Years Eve!

I've been working on the Blog and found that  if you go to the Picasa Link, you cannot use the slideshow feature if you want to get back to the blog. The slideshow just sort of loops around and around and you can't get back to square one (the Blog). If you click just on the pictures and then your back button, you'll get back...Ummmm need to work on that..

Hope everyone has their New Years Resolutions made, been thinking about some for the business but  for myself personally, I tend not to make them (except for the instructions resolution!).

If you are partying tonite be safe!
